U.S. Navy Installs EvoLucia® Aimed LED Lights on Base in Greece

SARASOTA, Fla., Oct. 4, 2010 — Sunovia Energy Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: SUNV) announced today that the U.S. Navy has successfully installed EvoLucia® Aimed LED cobra head street lights at the Souda Bay base in Crete, Greece.

The Navy’s Energy Conservation Program spearheaded the effort to replace 300W metal halide street lights with 120W energy-efficient EvoLucia LED lights, reducing energy consumption by 60 percent. A new federal mandate requires that all federal agencies reduce energy consumption by 3% each year; this project achieves over half of that reduction requirement.

A short video about the project can be viewed here: www.dvidshub.net/video/88861/daily-news-update-led-lights-nsa-souda-bay.

“We’re proud to be the first naval base in Europe to embrace this new technology,” said John Kitson, resource energy manager for NSA Souda Bay. “Hopefully our counterparts will follow suit. The project was very successful thanks to my competent team and a quality product. I am more than satisfied with the end result.”

This was Sunovia’s first major government order under their General Services Administration (GSA) contract, which was awarded earlier this year. Obtaining a GSA schedule is a very thorough vetting process through which the government examines the integrity of products and commercial sales policies. EvoLucia’s approved GSA contract allows government customers to buy the company’s products directly without having to obtain a competitive bid. EvoLucia products are listed on the GSA Advantage!® online shopping and ordering system (www.gsaadvantage.gov), the portal for supplies and services to all federal agencies. Government sustainability managers, energy coordinators, facilities staff and procurement managers can make purchases through this system confidently, knowing that all legal obligations have been taken care of by GSA.

Sunovia’s first government customer was Camp Lejeune, a marine base in Jacksonville, N.C. Camp Lejeune installed Sunovia’s EvoLucia LED streetlights on their campus last December. Photos of that project can be viewed at www.evolucialighting.com/camp-lejeune.

“We’re proud to add to our list of several international installations and to assist the Navy in becoming more energy-efficient,” said Jim Perkins, vice president of global sales at Sunovia. “We hope more military bases follow in Souda Bay’s green footsteps. We are ready to execute our government sales strategy and capture that very large target market.”
